Camber Adjustment and other stuff
Hey guys,
Quick one. Is camber adjustment (front and back) accomplished only by
fitting new springs and or spacers in the old ones.
Other notable notes.... My 73 Mk II is on the road and running mighty fine.
What a thrill, almost forgot what it was like to drive the thing. It
attracts quite a crowd wherever it stops and turns heads whenever it is
driven around. Quite a nice feeling. (Although my 65 Spitfire gets the same
as well). The car is destined for a few shows this summer as well as a
camping trip with our club (Illinois Sports Owners Assoc). It will make its
presence known at the National VTR Convention in Portland Maine as well as a
real neat trip we are taking with other Triumph couples to Nova Scotia with
the cars! The car is almost perfect after the 2.5 year ground up restoration
(Lotsa new stuff!). Car is 100% stock condition, well except the Pioneer CD
Deck, ok 99.99% stock. I expect paint chips and other wear and tear because
it is intended to drive not to be a trailer queen. At a later time I'll post
the restoration costs but roughly the car cost me the following in US
Dollars.
$2000 Purchase + $2700 engine work + $3200 other stuff (top, seats, carpet,
paint etc.)= $7900 for a kick ass vehicle. If the costs seem low, ALL the
work with the exception of the machine work to the engine was done by me.
Even though the car was not running and mechanically badly butchered , it
was very solid. I'm still sorting out details and finishing the wheel
polishing. All in all it has been the most challenging car I've ever worked
on. I would venture to say that if you are a DIY'er, you need to be in the
90th percentile of mechanical aptitude to maintain and restore this car. If
not, you need to be in the 90th percentile of financial aptitude. Kiss my
butt BMW Z3, eat my shorts Mercedes SLK, and go away Mazda Miata (Me-too-a),
King Stag is back!
