Re: Curious Metal Loop Contest WINNERS

Hello All,
Quite a few interesting responses about the curious metal loops in the Stag
chassis. Curious Metal Loop Contest ended December 31, 1998 precisely at
23:59:00 MST, but the judge was partying far too much to get logged onto the net
at midnight.

There were four answers suggesting that the loops were used as shipping
tiedowns, three were "I think they are" catagory, one naming a Triumph
employee. Then there were some eye witness responses, one from Giovanni
Micholetti and one from from Pelham West that were good enough to give the judge
a couple of good laughs without even drinking any Guinness.

Being the judge and operator of the contest, I've got to abide by the rules,
which state:
"Contest open to everybody, One submittal per
person, so gather your info first, then submit your best proof. No runner ups,
no ties, bribes are cheerfully accepted by the judge for any contest related
resolve, and the underdog will win over a techie who should know what it is used
for."

Giovanni, you loose by default because you up and died on us all, contest
entrants must be living, but if I ever get to your grave side, I'll leave a Stag
Lapel Pin in thanks. Your answer was a good belly laugh though.

Pelham West supplied proof that all Stags have "balls", some more than others,
some blue! Another good belly laugh! But having connections to Lord Stokes
himself, well I guess that disqualifies you for "underdog" status, and since
there are no runners up or ties ... psssblat!

Ian Baird supplied direct heresay from a living ex-Triumph employee, one Nigel
Cross, that nets points pretty high up on the list.

Since there were no documented contest entries, the judge declares Ian Baird
Contest Winner! Ian wins a chrome plated Leaping Stag Lapel Pin with an
official looking "Winner" certificate with a scanned color picture of the loop.

Ian, send off your address and I'll put the loot in the post to you.

With no documented proof yet provided, this contest might need to run again in
some of the various Stag Club newsletters, or maybe a "what's it" in one of the
British Car magazines.

Thanks for all who entered this mind boggling contest.

Heralding All a Triumphant New Year, and Joyful Stag..ering.

Regards,
Glenn Merrell
