Dip sticks and tube's
Hi all
Just to try and verify which dip stick I have fitted on my Mk1 stag I have
listed below the relative dimensions, if some one could tell me the
dimensions of their's and if they have the dip stick tube fitted. This would
be a great help as Tony Hart of Hart Racing say's that in his experience all
stag's have only ever been fitted with one type of dip stick, but as Glenn
has said in this list that is not so.
Oh well hope some one can help and what follows are the dimensions.
From sump end of dip stick to minimum level - 23mm or 14/16 Inch
From sump end of dip stick to maximum level - 40mm or 1" 9/16 inch
Length of dip stick handle from the engine block stopper to the top of the
loop on the handle is approx. 225mm or 9 inch's.
How does this compare with everyone else's and do I have the early type of
dip stick or am I missing the tube ?
Ian Baird
Below is Tony Hart's reply to my e-mail to him.
Dear Ian,
With reference to your dip stick query, in my 25 years of dealing with
Stags I have only ever seen one type of dipstick and dipstick tube. I
have even checked in my very early parts manual. This parts manual is
from Triumph and was used for production line changes and is circa 1969
and, it also shows the same part numbers as in later parts manuals. To
the best of my knowledge, there was only ever one dipstick and dipstick
tube.
Regards,
Tony Hart
