I agree about Cardinal. They have the spirit!
I personally would replace that engine with an unleaded Stag engine. With a
Triumph 6 cyl it just isn't a Stag.  I would get one from Hart Racing
Services. I have always found their work of a very high standard, and what
Tony Hart doesn't know about Stags you can write on a pinhead.
Apparently the engines are interchangeable, but Stag engine has different
radiator, like a modern design with horizontal tubes in it to keep the bonnet
profile low. Maybe you already have that.
And I suppose the exhaust arrangement is going to be different. You can go to
normal Stag with low mounted alternator, or tubular manifolds, and mount the
alternator up high on the left. All the bits are available.
