If your jackshaft was driving a pump fine before your replaced the pump, and
if your failed Water Pump is branded Unipart (GWP206 or GWP207) then go to
your supplier and claim it under warranty. Those pumps are guaranteed for
twelve months and unlimited mileage. If it is fitted by a Unipart dealer you
can claim the labour as well.
On jackshaft tolerance, according to the engine manual, the only thing you
have to check is run out on the timing chain sprocket, i.e.not related to
shaft end float.
