i think you mean SRS light... that is the safety restraint system light for the
airbag obviously.  if this is the case, then you most likely have a fault stored
in the SRS module that will tell you what the problem is.  it is not normal for
it to be on more than a couple seconds at start.  however, BMW did decide to let
the light go out after several minutes which is nice if you don't get it fixed
for awhile... no annoying light on all the time :)  hope that helps.
