E30 wobble

  I assume with 16' wheels you went to wider & lower profile tires.
   Wider tires give less longitudinal stability.
   The area of your "footprint" is about the same, but if you go 
wider, then you shorten the contact patch.  Couple this with lower 
profile, and you'll get lots of non-linear shuffle.
