Re: <E-36> Power seat problems

  I have a 95 540 (E34). I have found three (3!) DRIVE CABLES that are too
short internally (the square flexible drive shaft).  These have been the
problem in each of my power seats.  I have taken both of my front seats
apart, I would be surprised if your gears are stripped.  Now if it was a
power window, sure your gears are stripped...  You can get new drive cables
from the dealer or call Zygmunt (bimmerparts.com or the like).  The trick is
that you have to figure out which one(s).  Interestingly enough the new
drive cables were different than the ones I replaced, the outer jackets were
shorter, hmm.
