E36 reverse light not working

A couple months ago I noticed that the reverse light on my 95 M3 didn't come
on all the time when I engage in the reverse gear. And now it just does not
work at all. I checked both bulbs and they are fine. No bulb-failure error
from the computer either. All the other lights are working fine. Can anyone
shed some light on what may be wrong? Thanks.
