How to remove window trim?

Can anyone give me the procedure on removing the chrome window trim at the
base of the window on an e30?  This is a '89 325iX and it's the rear left
window I need to remove if it makes a difference.  I've had some of the
black paint on the window pillar flake off and I wanted to repaint it with
the trim removed.
