Keep in mind that Jon is probably speaking of the '97 3 series, which while
slighly different looking than the current car IS STILL AN E36!! with a few
cosmetic changes [like the new kidneys]. The E46 will be a 1998 model that is
still 14-16 months away. I doubt the E46 has been fully exposed yet -- the
UK's BMW Car mag article notwithstanding.
1996=E36
1997=E36 - with a few cosmetic changes
1998=E46 - a brand new egg-like chasis
By the way, I've expressed my not-so-good feelings about BMW styling trends
in the "letters" section of the current Roundel ...
