Alfa 164 wheels: will 5x100 work?

I know some people have said that a 5x100 bolt pattern will work on a
164, but I'm wonering if this is really OK.

If this is true, then are there any drawbacks?  Any custom work that
needs to be done?

Also, what is the acceptable offset range for a 164?

Any advice is appreciated!
