Re: Rotondi Spica mmisadjusted
I guess the two SPICA equipped cars I have/had that didn't have a
sealed reference screw never ran properly, then. Funny, the Alfetta now
(finally) starts just fine, idles well, gets good mileage, and passes
smog. (It just needs a new exhaust system, but that's a separate issue).
It's really not that hard to get the system to "good enough" even with
the reference screw in a random position. Perhaps that's not good enough
for Fred, but it works for me, and I'm not even halfway to a 100 :-).
I'll buy the idea that only Ingram can get it *exactly* right, and I'll
happy send worn-out pumps to him for a rebuild, but the idea that only he
can get the car running well after the seal has been removed is false.
I've found Ingram's manual to be less than useful, and the factory
manual assumes you have all of the snazzy special tools. A combination
of Pat Braden's book and the AROO tech website are pretty much all you
really need.
FWIW, the original poster let me know off-digest that the TA was replaced
by a cable-operated doodad, which pretty much invalidates a great deal of
the Ingram/factory procedures, anyway.
