Dave,
How do you figure that double clutching on downshifts doubles the wear on the clutch? If you do the procedure correctly, you blip the throttle, select the next lower gear, AND let the clutch pedal back out BEFORE the engine revs fall. Therefore, you reduce the wear on the clutch by not using it to drag the engine back up to speed!
