Consider.........

Speaking from the abstract, perhaps a certain seller does not want the car to start for a certain buyer, so the certain seller
disables the fuel delivery system with something so simple a certain buyer thinks he is getting one over on the said seller.  Some
time later when the car warms up the real problem surfaces.

Honesty is the best policy.....
