Re: Alfa 164: rear emblem replacement

Ross,

I replaced the boot badge on my 164 a couple of years ago after some
lowlife tried to help himself to it (unsuccessful, but made it loose).

The new badge came as an assembly with everything but the lock cylinder - I
didn't know how to R&R the cylinder, so I left put the new badge on the old
lock.

These instructions are a couple of years old and from memory, but I don't
think that they are too far off the mark. To remove the lock, pull back
the trim in the boot lid. There are a couple of connections to the lock
that need to be undone/unclipped. The lock itself is held in place with a
cam-lock type of clip - this just swings out of the way and the whole
assembly just comes out.

The badge is held on to the lock with a circlip - remove this and slide it
out - be careful not to lose the spring between badge and lock.

Now swap badges, reinstall and you're done. Give the area under the lock a
good clean so that the rubber gasket seals well and doesn't leak.

Good luck - let us know how you go - this should be a 10-15 minute job.

Cheers,
