Oil changeover

Hello all...

I have done the research and will be changing over to Mobil 1 15W50 this
weekend.  I am changing from Penzoil 20W50.

One question...

Should I remove the cam cover and remove the old oil left behind before adding
the synthetic?

The old oil is very clean and it has been changed frequently, but I don't want
the new oil to contaminate the new blend.

Should I be concerned about this or any other engine areas?
