Re: FYI: spider break-in
I totally agree about not locking the car. I had an
'83 Spider and it was broken into. The thief cut the
roof but couldn't reach the handle so he then broke
the fly window. Insurance pro-rates the roof assuming
a 5 year life and then subtracts if they notice any
wear and the deductible. I fought to not have the
value reduced due to wear since they are pro-rating it
anyway and that should include wear but I still got
almost nothing for it. Something about convertibles
makes scummy thieves slice instead of breaking. I
guess it's quieter. I never locked it again after
that. I'd lock the glove compartment and trunk only.
