Re: Tail light and license plate lights inoperable

Hey Carmelo,

I just handled this selfsame problem on virtually *all*
the lights on my 1967 GT 1300 Jr.

Let me give you just one word: "Ground"

Both taillights had the ground wire (that's the black one,
usually) connected to one of the mounting studs for the
light, but using a test lead (a hunk of wire with an alligator
clamp at either end) to a different piece of chassis metal
produced nice lighting. So I rerouted the ground to a better
stud and now I have reliable rear end lights. I also did this
on the headlights and forward turn signal and running lights.

Ground. Ground is your friend. Make sure your ground path
is clean and tight and generally well-appointed. Electrons
hate to have to jump through schmutz to go home to the
negative pole of your battery.

While you're at it, check the ground strap from the tranny/motor
to the chassis as well. Never hurts.

Best of luck,

JZ
