I've owned several Escort detectors, including the original "monster" size unit and have always been very happy with them. A year or so ago I made the mistake of
buying a Beltronics 880. I hate it! Why? Numerous falses, and I can't hear it with the stereo goin', even at rather normal volumes. I got two speeding tickets
because of these two shortcomings within just three months!! I was so unhappy with the unit that I sent it back to Bel to "desensitize" the thing. It did reduce the
falses by about 50%, but they have far outnumbered the actual radar detections of the unit. It's now in the wife's 164, but rarely used.

My advise, DON'T BUY a BELTRONICS. Get one of the basic Escort models. Earlier in the year I bought the Passport 6880 and it lives up to my expectations in a radar
detector. They had a trade-in offer so I sent them one that didn't even work and got $40 off the regular price. This week I got a flier from them with several
special offers on a wide range of units. Give 'em a call.

No financial interest, blah, blah, blah...just a satisfied customer.
