Alfa engine stands

hey gang,

i'm about ready to invest in an engine stand for an
alfa 4 cyl.  harbor frieght has a basic stand for $39,
but i'm a bit hesitant to support the engine from just
the transmission mounting holes.  can anyone recommend
a modification to the generic engine stands to
securely hold an alfa 4 cyl, or alternatively 
recommend a better engine stand?
