RE: Oh, transmission removing and installing gurus?
I'm no guru, but I guess I could play one on TV ;->
In my case ('73 spider), I found that I could not get the transmission out
without tilting the engine back a little--and you definitely will not get it
back in without a tilt. I removed the shift lever but the shift-lever stub
would not clear the hole in the transmission tunnel without a tilt. Loosen
the two engine mounts, disconnect the exhaust, remove the fan shroud, watch
out for the back of the head against the firewall or anything else that is
in the way.

Subject: Oh, transmission removing and installing gurus?
Judging from the recent posts concerning transmission installation, there is
just a wealth of transmission-pulling experts out there! I have a simple
question, I think. I have my are up on blocks and am about to drop the
tranny. I have the driveshaft disconnected from the output fork and the
driveshaft including the donut is removed from the car. My question is will
I have to tilt the engine up in order to get enough clearance from the body
to remove the transmission?
