Use a SU fuel pump. "Modern" conversions are not as well made and generally
have too much fuel pressure for the Strombergs.
This results in tuning problems and over rich mixtures and flooding. You
can change the points if that is all that is wrong;
however the diaphram may very lkely have a pinhole in it. If the pump is
older than say five years , I would change it. If you
want to try points and have the time and inclination , give it a try.
