Hello Frank and George,

    "Spring Washers" are what we Yanks call lock washers.

Frank, It sounds like the springs on the MC pushrod are caught inside
the booster.  See if you can "thread" the spring out carefully.
Disassembly of the brake Master cylinder is a bit tricky, there are two
circlips holding things together, the first one is obvious, the second
one is buried under a thick nylon washer/bearing that is difficult to
remove, careful you do not damage the piston rod or it will leak for
sure.
