RE: Tacho problems
I had similar problems with my rev counter. I changed the internals to a
series two Stag rev counter (keeping the series one face and shell). I
had been told that the early type of rev counters was problematical.
This required a simple wiring mod; Join the two wires together that go
through the old rev counter and take a tap off the coil to the new rev
counter. I never had a problem with a early PI rev counter which is the
same design. I think the Stag one has trouble counting to 8!
Also with the early design; if the rev counter fails you could be
stranded (by an internal failure of the rev counter).
Maybe someone out there knows someone who can repair the early style. I
think Triumph changed because of these problems.

Dear Peter,
What kind of Rev Counter do you have ? and do have Electronic
Ignition
fitted.
I have the early type of rev counter (Mk1) and standard, dual
points
ignition. Mine does exactly the same, only perhaps a little
worse. Sometimes
the needle stays at zero for miles, other times it is
intermittant, and
sometimes it behaves itself remarkabley well.
I would like to find out why this as just talking nicely to it
doesn't seem
to be working!
