Oil Pump Wear

I took an oil pump off recently and it had a lot of scratches on the
impeller. In fact, deep scratches in the direction of rotation and all
through it actually. This was caused by metallic debri that found its way
through the pump and into the filter. 

After this episode it probably wasn't pumping oil as well as it once did. 

Thought I would add this to Peter's earlier comment about wear factors on
Oil Pumps and how to measure them.
