Re: Stag questions/parts wanted

Hello Ben,
Welcome to the fold. Ah yes, many questions. Let's discuss them one at a
time.

Well, that's what you get for playing with the "doom" lamp ;-}

The B post lights are supposed to be fed off of the Battery Control Fuse, Fuse 1
or most inboard, Ignition Control is where the reversing lamps are fed. Does
you horn work? or Glovebox light or console lamps? All off of fuse one.
Sometimes the fuses may LOOK okay, but the wire separated in the metal cap below
sight. only test is to take them out and use an ohm meter to check it for
continuity, or use a low wattage lightbulb and a battery. Could be you fried
the wire going to the bulb if the fuse did not blow, or maybe the interior light
switch is also a problem part.

When you take the window lift motor out, clean out the old grease, remove the
gears, clean out the sleeve bearings. Relube with a good lightweight lubriplate
white grease that does not dry out or affect nylon gears.

If you can swing it, buy both. If you have to pick, buy the BL Repair
Operations Manual. Buy a Stag Parts Catalogue too.

The recoil units are most likely gummed up. They can be taken apart, cleaned
and lubricated with lubriplate type white grease.

Rimmers has Brittax rear belts, as does Paddock. Paddock will be less dollars
on them, unless you can get one of Rimmers free shipping deals.

Well, did the PO tell you the type and manufacturer of the brake fluid used? It
may just be air/water in the system, and a good brake bleeding might fix
things. But, if you do not know what type of fluid was in the reserviour, it is
a guess at best. The wrong fluid could trash out your brake seals.

"light" feel is a typical complaint for the Stag, some like it, some don't, some
say ...what light steering??. Not a problem unless you are planning speeds over
90 MPH for long periods.
