Windscreen pillar repairs

Hi All

I am finially going to get around to repairing the rot in my screen
pillars. I don't know how bad it is because po plated it last time.
Hopefully it won't be to horrible.

Anybody got any advice on what gauge of steel I should use for the repair,
I guess that any repair should be seam-welded in this location.
