RE: UK road tax
Hello jon and All
Get onto your MP NOW TODAY
the planned changes to the VED system are being drawn up this month
to be implemented in the March budget. If any concessions are to be
given to the older vehicle then the time to act is now while the
subject is under discussion.
The sugestions I have given are as follows.
1. Reinstate the rolling 25 year rule but with a nominal charge for any
vehicle that qualifies.
2. Discount the VED for second vehicles used for leisure and insured
for low annual mileage.
Ignore the leaded petrol debate If you cannot afford to tax the car you
cannot
put any petrol in it !.

Subject: UK road tax
Hi All,
I am a little concerned as to what may happen to the UK road tax cost on
post '73 Stags after the budget if it is based on engine size.
I personally thought that the rolling classic car exclusion was a great
idea - its a shame that it stopped rolling.
And I thought 20 years old would better define a classic rather than 25 ( I
would! my car is 'only' 21).
Is there anything this group can do to protest about any serious hike in
the road tax?
Depending on how punitive the hike is, it may force some of us low mileage
owners to consider whether we can afford to keep running our cars as a
hobby.
Jon.
PS I am following with great interest the unleaded fuel articles as my
car's engine is standard.
