Hello Alastair,
You have broken the speedo cable, sounds like it went snap like they do.
Should be available from Hart, Paddock, or Rimmer. You will need to remove the
ends and check the length of the housing, but you should be able to just buy the
inside portion if you ask around, but more likely they will what to sell you the
complete assembly. Check first to make sure the drive gear in the trans is not
stripped or broken.
