Earlier Triumph 2000/2.5's had the plain strut, the cut was added I
believe because of clearances with the wider higher Stag wheel/tyre.
Presumably the later 2000/2.5s got it in commonisation with the Stag and
then the 2500S needed it as it got the Stag 14" Steel wheels.
