Re: Interesting Stags

I'm glad someone else keeps all their old SOC magazines!
Now if you dig out your May 1985 issue you'll see a photo
of Andrew Hall (Patrick's son) with this Stag with a registration
number of "E 50". That preceded "9 ACH".

Patrick's letter does say "9 ALH". I can only assume he was
writing by memory and didn't check.

Patrick sold the Stag a couple of years ago and it is now
owned by Adrian Planterose as Glenn says. It was indeed
at Gaydon, sporting its original reg. number of "HNX 540K"

It also featured in the Triumph supplement (page 101) in the
November 1998 issue of "Classic and Sports Car".

The only other one to be converted to AWD (or GKN-FF
All-Wheel-Control as FF Developments call it) was indeed
owned by Hazel Barratt. I have a copy of the Comparative
Specifications for this Stag and it says the transmission
was "Borg-Warner type 35, as standard with 4-W-D unit
attached". Therefore it's only 3-speed, Glenn.

The Comparative Specs. are in a 4-page document which
FF Developments sent to Patrick Hall in October 1989.
I can supply copies to anyone who's interested.
I forgot I had them when talking to Adrian Planterose
at Gaydon so if anyone is in touch with him please
let him know.

As a footnote, Steve and Hazel Barratt also used to own the
first production Stag, commission number LD 1, registration
number RRW 97H.

I say "used to" because they sold it recently to Steve Kiefer,
the SOC's Insurance and Liaison officer.

It was briefly featured in a recent BBC "Top Gear" programme.
If you'd blinked you would've missed it.
