I can't agree with your assumption
.
Since "Stag Owners Club" is not a valid e-mail address 
I would want to know exactly who Dave sent his mail to
before implying the SOC don't reply to mails.

I would suggest that Dave might have simply used that 
name as a pseudonym for one of the many mailing lists 
that receive these mails.
