Really, just don't do it.  Because it is mounted at an angle it is
difficult to get loose, also a fair bit of oil still tips out - and this
assumes you don't put a screwdriver thru it to get it off.

The silliest application I have ever seen is on the MGB.  The canister is
upside down so it makes a terrible mess every time.  And you can't prime it
with oil either.

Oil is messy, there's no avoiding it.
