Central Locking etc

I'm not an expert on insurance ( perhaps someone in the group is) but my
understanding is that owners must take all reasonable precautions to
prevent theft. I did hear a story ( I cant vouch that it's true) that an
insurance company refused to pay out for a stolen car when the driver left
his keys in the ignition to 'pop' into a shop. Also, a friend of mine had
his golf clubs stolen from the back of his locked hatchback and had
difficulty recovering the money from the insurance company as he had left
the clubs on open view (apparently he should have covered them with the
cover or blanket).

Deliberating leaving a car unlocked does not sound like taking reasonable
precautions.

Just a thought.
