Hi

I'm just in progress to bring all part of the engine back together.
During that I'm trying to fix my leaking gearbox oil pan. I fitted a new
cork seal about a year ago. With that I applied a thin coat of Hylomar
at each side. Thought this will fix things "for ever".

But it started leaking about 1/2 year later. I increased torque of the
bolts (I already have helicoil everywhere) ... didn't help either.

This week I took the oil pan off. I noticed the following.
 - The pan was glued to the gearbox (took some force to remove it)
 - Hylomar has "relocated" itself. It looks like lots of Hylomar
islands, but not the fine film I applied. Small pieces of cork remained
glued when removing the cork seal.

I carefully cleaned all ... so my questions is:

Any better advice to get that damned box sealed ?
Is it better to use that cork seal without anything ?

Thanks

  Tom
