fuel pumps

May I throw 2 pence worth of advice for those who play with fuel pumps.

Yes they are extremely reliable but can be a little tempermental in getting
them going if the base plate is disturbed.  To replace the point the manual
tells one how to calculate the number of turns of the diaphram in order to
adjust the contacts.

What the manaul does not tell you, and this is out of my old morris major
manual, when replacing the base place a small wedge under the contact
lifting them to the maximum movement before replacing and tightening the base.

this streches the diaphram and allow the contact motion to work freely.
