Ian,
If you have other people using your account is is likely that they came
across a machine with a mail "client" such as Netscape Mail with your
configuration settings still on it. Maybe you read your mail from someone
else's computer. If you have your password entered and saved they cannot
only send from your account but also receive your messages. Which is a bit
of a worry.
This is independent of the ISP they are using. They might be dialing into
anywhere or accessing the internet directly from a network. It is important
to remove all the configuration settings from any emailer you use when you
are finished with a foreign machine.
