Fuel pump substitute

Hi Guy

OK, so it's midnight here! You're going to tell me the sun is shining in
OZ, aren't you? Would you like a few buckets of rain from England?

There are two basic speciifcations of pump, high pressure and low pressure.
The Stag uses high pressure with double contacts on the contact set. If
your Jaguar pump has twin contacts it should be OK, but check the
specification of the spring behind the top cover, this regulates the
presure. You may need to swap this over from the faulty pump. If there is
a single-point contact set only, it is a low pressure pump and therefore
not the right type, but can still be carried for emergency use.

Do not run oil through the pump, use petrol as the various seals etc are
designed with petrol in mind, which incidentally contains a fair amount of
natural lubricant. Keep wrapped in an anti-moisture cloth or use silica
gel crystals.

When you come to fit it, you will probably find that it doesn't work! This
is because the contacts oxidise on non-use, so pack a piece of fine emery
cloth to de-oxidise them before you fit the pump.
