Keeping your Cool

Hello Ian,
    If you neglect you cooling system for a period of two or three
years, you could be seeing a gradual increase in
heating.  The best way to get rid of the heat is as follows:
1.  Maintain your cooling system  by annually flushing with a good
detergent/chemical flushing agent, followed by a
neutralizing/corrosion inhibitor agent, and a 50/50 mix of corrosion
inhibiting antifreeze to water.  Make sure to flush the
block completely and unplug the block drain holes
2.  Rod out the radiator every two years.  If there are ANY bad tubes
that can not be repaired to flow coolant, replace
the core with an uprated core, or replace the radiator with an uprated
ratiator;
3.  Fit a 17" electric thermostat controled fan to assist or replace the
standard fan;
4.  Fit PN 312298 and PN 312299 cowls (if you can find them), 303190
deflector shield.  A composite prototype
version of the cowls will be tested in about one week, and will cost
about $200 USD for the set.  The cowl will also
allow for replacing the original fan and locating a 17" electric fan in
the 17" opening.  I should have a web page with
pictures of the cowl setup in about 2-3 weeks.
5.  Keep your cylinder heads torqued.
