windshield seal installation

Hello All,

I am restoring a 1973 Stag and am at the point that I am putting the
windshield glass back onto the car. 

I have installed the glass in both my Herald and my TR6, both of which
were very straight forward, but this Stag gasket has me confused.

The gasket has a rubber "cord" that came supplied with it. It appears to
fit into the deep recess of the gasket. Does this go into the gasket
before or after it is fitted to the windscreen? Does anyone have any idea
what I am describing? The gasket was supplied from Rimmer brothers, so I
think it is the correct one.  

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This part is so much fun, I can't wait to fit the chrome trim...
