Fuel Tank
Modern fuels contain anti-corrosion additives, as the fuel itself (in the
UK at least) is fairly corrosive. However, one old-fashioned rule still
applies, and that is that the best way to keep the tank rust-free in
long-term storage is to keep it full of petrol. This prevents damp air
from starting rusting.
It is a good idea however to ensure the paint on the outside of the outside
of the tank is not compromised by transit scratches. Either 'Hammerite'
traditional grade applied according to instructions or Waxoyl (if you don't
mind the smell) come to mind.
