Cheers Fellow Staggers:
I have been *lurking* on this digest for a month or so, after having learned
of its existence solely through my participation on the Alfa and Italian Cars
Digests. I have not only a Stag, but three Alfas, and am contemplating
purchase of a Fiat Dino Spider.
On to several questions I have:
I am in need of the thermostatic vacuum switch, located on the upper LH side
of the radiator (US spec emissions control stuff). The part number is 611428,
appearing on plate 05-06 of the Parts Catalogue. Rimmer Bros. do not appear
to stock it; I have been told that TR6s of similar vintage use the same part.
Is this true? Perhaps I can get it through Moss or TRF...
A minor nuisance I have occurs at engine speeds below 1,000 rpm. The
alternator light comes on, indicating that the charging system is not working.
Increase the engine speed slightly, and the light goes out. Is this an
indication of a faulty or failing voltage regulator? Or can an internal
adjustment be made to the regulator to either increase alternator output at
lower engine speed or decrease the warning light threshold? Not critical,
just I don't like having warning lights illuminate unnecessarily.
An unrelated request of all Stag Digesters: there has been an ongoing thread
on the Alfa Digest of late that has produced the desired result, incredibly
with no backlash. Although the volume of posts is only a fraction of what the
AD has daily, many folks have asked that posters pay a moment's attention to
the "Subject" line of their posting. Please make the minimal effort to enter
an appropriate topic, or revise a "Re:" for clarity. All too often, an
individual won't take the time to read/respond to posts having "Re: stag-
digest V3 #30" in the subject line. More likely the most important benefit,
though, is the ability for one of us digesters to search the archives to
identify and find desired information using accurate and reliable subject
listings.
I look forward to participating in the Stag Digest: gleaning useful Stag
information, and perhaps contributing some as well.
Regards,
Doug Zaitz
