Jake,
Did the engine crank? Strongly? A dying battery, or
a loose connection at a terminal can create the
symptoms you describe.
BTW, stay away from the power washer--under the hood
or anywhere on a car. A low pressure garden hose and
some good cleaner should get the job done and you run
less risk of water getting where it doesn't belong.
