535i transmission

535 transmission =
there are a number of bushings that support the shifter and bracket.
I put a short shift kit in a 533i.
It came with new bushings and it made all the difference and would be a likely
problem with the noise your having. something is getting up against solid
metal and transferring the noise up through the shifter.
Not an easy place to get to.
Had to disconnect the cross member under the engine and lower it which allowed
the transmission to drop to allow small hand access.
Did not have to disconnect the driveshaft.
