Jake,
Three possibilities:
1. The window motor/regulator has lost its settings and does not know
where the top of the window is. Reset it by holding down the close switch button for approximately 15-30
seconds;
2. The window tracks are dirty and rubber gaskets have dried up fooling
the regulator into thinking that the window is closed. Apply the BMW
gasket lube Gummepfludge sp?),
3. The window regulator is heading south.
