re: Brake Squeel. Not squeal, _Squeel. As in Eek. Not eak as in speak.
New pads and rotors was the right way to go, except for one thing.
Did you clean the cosmoline coating off the new rotors before
installing them?
The rotors may look like fresh clean metal, but if you don't clean the
cosmoline coating
the cosmoline can burnish into the new pads.
So if you installed the new rotors right out of the box, kiss those
used new pads goodbye
and get new ones. I used Mintex OEM compounds as sold by Bavarian
Autosport and
and many other vendors. Coat them liberally on the backside with the
anti squeel paste Bavarian sells. Let the coating sit at least
overnight. That makes it a dry tacky surface, much easier to install
cleanly and guarantee no metal on metal from the piston to the pad
surface. Remove the rotors and scrub them down with a good cleaner and
a scrubbie or a Scotchbrite. Then put the new pads on your rotors.
No more squeel. If this procedure sounds bothersome, think of the
brake squeel that sounds even moreso.
