E30 front end replacement and looking for snow tires

Okay, all this talk of front end rebuilding peaked my interest.  My '86 ES is 
do for a change next spring.  It is going to be a dedicated track car next 
year.  What is the "hot" set up as far as parts?  The front end needs 
everything including a new steering rack.  I was going to go factory on 
everything, but the mention of delrhin bushings and the such has me thinking. 
 What's up guys?  Is there a website someone can point me to with clear 
details?  It's been a few years since I was in the track scene.

On another note, I need to find some snow tires and wheels for an E34 '95 
530i.  They don't have to be together, just a set of four of either.  I am 
located in the chicago area.  Any leads greatly appreciated.
