<E30> ACK! Gauges gone Dead.

Was driving around yesterday when suddenly the Tach, Gas, and Temp 
gauges suddenly dropped dead.

When you first re-start the car, the tach works for about 5 seconds, 
then dies.  The fuel and temp gauges remain dead.

I've been told that I might be looking at a damaged circuit board in 
the instrument cluster.  Does that sound right to you guys?  If so, 
what's the easiest way to get that thing out of there, and what parts 
do I have to get to replace?  It sure doesn't look pretty from under 
the kick-panel.

Can this damaged circuit board be repaired by someone handy with a 
soldering iron?
