     In my E36 //M3, with a radar detector plugged in more often than
not, it took four years before the battery water level even was low
enough to need filling.
     So I add my vote to those saying the dealer is giving a load of
crap about your detector.
What I _have seen is bad alarm installations that draw current all the
time sufficient to drain the battery too soon.  Do you have an alarm or
add on stereo that could be the source of current load?
